YAZOO CITY — Irene Wright Hern died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at Promise Hospital. She was 74.

Mrs. Hern had been an assembly-line worker at Delta Elastics Co. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was born in Monroe County to Walker and Tennessee Rogers Wright.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde R. Hern; two sons, Gene Allen Hern and Clyda A. “Tony” Hern; three sisters, Alice Harbin, Elizabeth Scott and Sue Haley; and two brothers, Charles Wright and W.C. “Dub” Wright.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay Tenhet of Rolling Fork and Sandy Melton of Florence; a son, Darrell Hern of Holly Bluff; one sister, Elouise Ruth Little of Grenada; and other relatives and friends, including Melda McBroom of Vicksburg and Donald Johnson of Holly Bluff.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City with the Revs. Andy May and David Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Gary Melton, Don McBroom, Jonathan Hern, Charles Melton, Christopher Hern and Josh Hern.
