HORN LAKE — The season is over for the Warren Central Lady Vikes.

Horn Lake rolled to a victory in the Class 6A North State satellite round with a convincing 65-26 victory over Warren Central on Monday.

Ricille Davis was the lone bright spot for the Lady Vikes, accounting for 19 of her team’s 26 points.

Sh’Qulla Neal, who had five points, and Kiera Moore were the only other players to score for Warren Central.

The Lady Vikes (17-10) lost in the satellite round for the second consecutive season. They lost at home to Tupelo last year.

Horn Lake (25-2) advanced to the second round of the North State tournament, and will face Murrah on Friday at 6 p.m. at Northwest Rankin. Greenville-Weston and Northwest Rankin will meet in Friday’s other elimination game.

Hattiesburg, Natchez, Harrison Central and Ocean Springs all won satellite games in the South half of the bracket.

“We did our homework on Warren Central. We knew that they centered around (Davis) and (Deshaundra Eatmon),” Horn Lake coach Janna Lyons told the Memphis Commercial Appeal. “I asked a couple of players to step up and make sure they took care of those two girls. I think they did a pretty good job of holding them, which was the game plan.”

In the first half, Horn Lake’s Jasbriel Swain dominated, scoring 19 of her team’s 32 points as the Lady Eagles raced to a 32-17 halftime advantage.

The senior scored back-to-back buckets near the 3-minute mark, the first off a rebound and the second following a steal.

After the break, things only got worse for the Lady Vikes. The Lady Eagles outscored them 13-2 in the third to put the contest out of reach.

A pair of free throws by Davis were all the Lady Vikes scored in the third quarter. They didn’t hit a field goal until Davis knocked down a jumper with 5:18 left in the fourth quarter.

Swain added 11 more points in the second half to finish with a game-high 29 to pace Horn Lake. Tia Coleman added nine points and Rosalyn Odum added eight for Horn Lake, whose only losses this season were by one point against both North Panola and Lafayette County.

“That’s been the key to us,” Lyons told the Commercial Appeal. “Chipping in from different directions — that lets you know you can’t just box us or you just can’t put somebody on one player and expect good results.”
