Two Warren County teens and a woman have been arrested in car and home burglaries, and authorities feel they solved at least some of the cases that led residents of a north Warren County community to organize last week for a fight against crime in their neighborhood.
The three arrested this week were identified as:
• Joseph M. Baggett, 18, 65 Baggett Road
• Grady Bishop, 17, 3365 U.S. 61 South
• Brittany Hunt, 20, 30 Sherard Drive.
Sheriff Martin Pace said the arrests have cleared up five auto burglaries and a residential burglary reported in July and August in North Warren County. He said some stolen items have been recovered.
Baggett was charged Thursday with four counts of auto burglary on Boy Scout and Redwood roads. He had been arrested a month ago in an auto burglary in the 1600 block of Boy Scout Road and a drug charge.
He is accused of taking a car stereo that was reported missing Aug. 12 and recovered at the time of arrest.
In the additional burglary charges, Baggett is accused of taking electronic equipment from two more vehicles in the 1600 block of Boy Scout Road and from a vehicle in the 800 block of Redwood Road, as well as a revolver from a car in the 1400 block of Redwood Road, Pace said.
He was in the Warren County Jail on a $20,000 bond for the Aug. 12 charges, and no bond had been set for the additional charges.
The other two suspects were charged in a burglary reported Aug. 31 at a home in the 5000 block of Mount Alban Road.
Bishop was arrested Tuesday and charged with burglary.
Hunt surrendered Wednesday afternoon and was charged with receiving stolen property, identified as jewelry taken from the Mount Alban Road home.
Hunt and Bishop were released from the jail on a $2,500 bond each.
The arrests came days after Pace met with about 35 residents of the Redwood Road, Oak Ridge Road, Mississippi 3 and U.S. 61 North area. They formed a Neighborhood Watch after car and home burglaries were reported in the area over the past three months.
From Jan. 1 to Aug. 31, 185 burglaries were reported throughout the county, which covers about 618 square miles. During the same period in 2009,103 burglaries were reported, Pace said.
“I’m satisfied that we were able to solve these burglaries, but we will not rest until the rest are solved,” Pace said.
