Angela Martin King, 35, was last seen in Warren County when she left her Warriors Trail home just before 6 p.m. Saturday after she hired a baby-sitter to care for her two children and said she would return by 11 p.m., Sheriff Martin Pace said.

“When the baby-sitter had not heard from her at 3:30 a.m., she and her family contacted us, and we began looking for her,” Pace said.

King was traced to the Jackson area, he said.

Hinds County criminal investigator Greg Lewis said King was last seen walking outside of Reed Pierce’s Sportsman’s Grill on Siwell Road in Byram south of Jackson in Hinds County.

“Witnesses saw her walking down the street,” said Lewis. Pace had said the witnesses said King was last seen at about 3 a.m.

Hinds and Warren county officials found King’s 2007 Ford Taurus Monday in the business’ parking lot, officials said.

“It’s not uncommon for people to leave their cars in parking lots at bars and go home with somebody else,” said Lewis. Pace said she possibly went to another establishment in Jackson.

Officials have no reason to suspect foul play, Pace said.

“But the circumstances are worrying us,” said Pace. “The facts that she hasn’t used her cell phone, hasn’t checked on her children and did not retrieve her car have concerned us.”

He said Rankin County is involved because a friend of King’s who lives in the county across the Pearl River from Hinds had been interviewed.

King had two part-time jobs, Pace said, as a cafeteria assistant with the Vicksburg Warren School District and  a sitter for an elderly person in Hinds County. She has not contacted either, he said.

King’s children are a 3-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy, who the Mississippi Department of Human Services turned over to their father, who does not live in Warren County, Pace said.

Rankin officials could not be reached this morning.
