EDWARDS — Services for James Willie “Pet Man” Gilmer will be at noon Saturday at Bolton-Edwards Middle School with Perry McFarland officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Edwards. Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Gilmer died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at his home in Edwards. He was 72.
He was a retired supervisor from International Paper, where he worked for 27 years.
He attended Hinds County Schools and received an associate degree from Utica Junior College before joining the Army.
Mr. Gilmer received a degree in business management from Louisiana State University and was a fisherman. He was a member of Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church in Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Gilmer Sr. and Mary Donald Gilmer; one brother, Arthur Gilmer Jr.; and one sister, Rosetta Richards.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Harris Gilmer of Edwards; three daughters, Patricia McFarland of Edwards, Helen Griffin of Brandon and Jennifer Bradley of Jackson; one son, Craig Gilmer of Raymond; two sisters, Mary Marshall and Elnora Mack, both of Edwards; two brothers, Walter Gilmer of Jackson and Oliver Burley of Clinton; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
