Engineer to lead MVD support team

Dennis O. Norris has been named chief of the District Support Team for the Operations Division with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mississippi Valley Division.

Norris, an engineer, will lead operations and maintenance of the Corps’ 370,000 square miles of facilities along the Mississippi River, including all or parts of 12 states.

Previously, he was the chief of the Operations Division for the Vicksburg District, a title he had held since 2003.

Since joining the Vicksburg District in 1980, he has received the 2000 Federal Engineer of the Year award, Mississippi Valley Division 2002 Civilian of the Year award and the Vice-Presidential Hammer Award.  

A New Orleans native, Norris has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Louisiana Tech University. He and his wife, Leah, have three children, and they are members of Bowmar Baptist Church.
