Paul Anthony Carr Sr.

PORT GIBSON — Paul Anthony Carr Sr. died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at his home in Port Gibson. He was 73.
A native of Boston, Mass., Mr. Carr moved to Mississippi as a young adult. He enlisted in the Air Force and served two tours in Vietnam and also in Korea. He received a degree in business and retired from the Air Force as a chief master sergeant.
He worked in construction, assisting in the building of Grand Gulf Nuclear Station and served as secretary of treasury for Union Local No. 145. He also worked as Paradise Poker Room manager for the Isle of Capri Casino in Vicksburg. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilman Beryl and Blanche Isabel Francis Carr.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Carr of Port Gibson; three sons, Leroy Davidson of Washington and Bobby Davidson and Paul “Packy” Carr II, both of Vicksburg; seven daughters, Marilyn Berntsen of Florida, Donna Davidson of Grapeland, Texas, Blanche Reese of Tacoma, Wash., Paula Smith of Ripley, Jamee Culpepper Carr of Cordele, Ga., and Sherry Terrell and Wendy Trevilion, both of Vicksburg; four sisters, Betty Whitcomb of New Hampshire, Tish Martorano of Burlington, Mass., Carol Farren of Billbrica, Mass., and Denise DeRamus, also of Massachusetts; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at noon Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson has charge of arrangements.
