Ewel Hughes

Ewel Hughes died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory. He was 51.

Mr. Hughes was born in Cleveland and was a graduate of Cleveland schools and Mississippi State University. He was an employee of Entergy for 21 years. A former resident of Vicksburg, he was a member of Hawkins United Methodist Church and the Big O and Mill Pond hunting clubs.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Andy Hughes.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Cowan Hughes of Vicksburg; his parents, Hullett and Billie Hughes; two daughters, Amanda Carol Hughes of Tupelo and Carrie Ann Hughes of Vicksburg; and one sister, Charelett Hughes Hollomon of Hattiesburg.

Services will be today at 3 p.m. at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with the Rev. Gus Shelly officiating. Burial will follow at Durrett Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 today until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be John Piazza, Duane Stagg, Mike Gatti, Jay Sanderson, Ed McGowan, Billy Hall, Jerry Lewis and Johnny Piazza.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Big O and Mill Pond hunting clubs.
