The 12th annual citywide pep rally at the Outlets at Vicksburg will ring in the school year Saturday.

This year, the event will be used to make the public aware of the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative, a $1.46 million grant awarded to the Vicksburg Warren School District, and some of the programs offered through it.

“The event will serve as our kickoff for Project SYNC (School and Youth in a Networked Community),” a project of the grant, said Tracie Young, early intervention grant coordinator. “We want the public to be aware of the grant and some of the things we’ll be offering to our students.”
