Melissa Hearn Collins

Melissa “Leisa” Hearn Collins went to be with Our Lord and Savior Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at River Region Medical Center.

Born July 13, 1966, in Warren County, she was the daughter of Faye Hearn Powell and the late George Hearn and was 44 years of age.

Leisa was employed for the last 15 years as a patient care representative at River Region Medical Center. She was a longtime volunteer with the Miss Mississippi and Miss Teen Mississippi Pageants, serving on various committees and assisting wherever she was needed. An avid student of photography, she included some of her photographs in her “River Breezes Cook Book,” a collection of recipes from family and friends that she published.

Leisa was preceded in death by her father, George Hearn; her brother, Timothy Hearn; and her father-in-law, John G. Collins.

She is survived by her husband, Standen Sheffield Collins; her son, Michael Galen Collins; her mother, Faye Hearn Powell; her stepfather, Thomas Powell; her brother and sister-in-law, Nelson and Tammy Hearn; stepbrother, Jacob Powell of Brandon; mother-in-law, Anita S. Collins; brother-in-law, Bill Collins of Clinton; and Sisters in Christ, Dee Dee Wooten, Donna Shows, Kim Hopkins and Frances Grey. Leisa also is survived by her two godchildren, Colby and Austin Hopkins, children of Kim and Roger Hopkins, and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many treasured friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harry Hawkins of Bradley Chapel United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Standen Collins, Michael Collins, Bill Collins, Nelson Hearn, Scott Hearn, Jerry Davidson, Bryan Miller, Roger Hopkins, John Michael Collins and Jeff Crevitt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frances Grey, Dee Dee Wooten, Kim Hopkins, Donna Shows, Linda Sheffield, Jane Leist, Kimbilia Williams, Bernice Kelly, Shana Bryant, Christie Kennedy, Charlotte Farrer, Myra Davidson, Patricia Rand, Kelly Massey, Martha Day, Kim Cook, Alexis Patterson, Kim Boyles, Sandy Crist, Monica Tedford, Kim Cain and Colby Hopkins.
