Visitor won’t return

I was in Vicksburg Sunday night for the fireworks show. We watched from the Horizon parking lot. Everything was absolutely great — except leaving.

We exited to Clay Street trying to get to Interstate 20. It was horrible. It was a death trap for people trying to cross the street everywhere for blocks.

I did not see a policeman from Levy Street east to Clay Street for blocks and then a policeman directing traffic would get confused and forget which lane he let go last.

We sat until I didn’t care whether I would be arrested or not. I went to the officer and told him he was holding up traffic on Clay Street, the main exit. He informed me that I could just wait some more for being impatient.

I just wanted fairness to play in this. Vicksburg police could not handle this traffic. It was bad, really bad.

If the city can’t handle the traffic, it should not have programs that cause traffic.

I won’t be back anymore and I do hope others will complain of this serious situation. I have been to all types of sporting events and have been in much larger crowds, but never found myself in the mess of traffic that occurred Sunday night.
