Rose Marie Oates Hughes

Rose Marie Oates Hughes, 83, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was retired from Procter and Gamble in Jackson, Tenn.
She was born in Camden, Miss., and lived in Valley Park, Bruce and Jackson, Tenn., before returning to Vicksburg upon her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Henry Oates and Elizabeth Neiland Oates.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John Herren Hughes Sr.; two sons, John H. Hughes Jr. and wife Jean of Vicksburg and Thomas Edward Hughes and wife Elaine of Clarksville, Tenn.; daughter, Mary Katherine Hughes Ferguson and husband Mickey of Puckett.
She has six grandchildren, Amy Anderson (Keathon) of Vicksburg, John H. Hughes III of Vicksburg, Kathy Gibson (Hubert) of Valley Park, Jason Ferguson (Ashleigh) of Ocean Springs, Roy Hughes and Marie Hughes of Clarksville; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mickey Ferguson and Greg Hazlerig officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 until 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John H. Hughes Jr., John H. Hughes III, Jason Ferguson, Keathon Anderson, Hubert Gibson, Steve Barlow and Billy Whitten.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Russell Barnes, the Grayson Sunday school class of Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church and the staff of Providence Hospice.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church.
