A Vicksburg church will celebrate the launch of its Rolling Fork branch next weekend, and the guest speaker is part of a nationally known Dallas megachurch’s ministry.

The Potter’s House is the church and ministry of T.D. Jakes, a Christian author and TV evangelist. The church has 30,000 members.

House of Peace Worship Church Delta, a satellite of House of Peace church on Grove Street, opened the Rolling Fork facility two weeks ago.

“We are one church in two locations,” said founding pastor Linda Sweezer, who is a member of the Potter’s House International Pastoral Alliance. “For about four years, we’ve been having services at a community center on Carver Street, in the heart of the neighborhood.”

About 200 people gathered weekly at the community center.

“I purchased a building (three years ago) that had suffered fire damage,” Sweezer said. “This building was totally devastated. It was nothing but a metal shell.”

It took two years for the congregation, including volunteers, to rehabilitate the building. The building, which sits on two acres, houses a sanctuary, fellowship hall, pastor’s study and two classrooms.

“You can say we built this church from the ground up,” Sweezer said. “We just moved into the building two Sundays ago. That day, we walked from the community center to the new building. We prayed and we sang all the way to the new church.”

Expected to attend the dedication service are Rolling Fork Mayor James Denson and state Rep. George Flaggs, D-Vicksburg. The service will include a video presentation of the building process.

Exum will also lead, for the third year, a free marriage conference. It will begin Friday evening at House of Peace’s Vicksburg church. Reservations are required.

House of Peace was established in 2001.
