Jo Ella Walls, left, smiles Monday as she is named the 2010 Retiree of the Year by the Retired Education Personnel of Vicksburg-Warren County. Walls, an educator for 40 years, taught at Port Gibson and Warren Central high schools, and was an administrator in Tallulah and a tutor for the Vicksburg Warren School District. Also named at the luncheon was the annual $500 scholarship winner — Daria Lawrence, 20, a 2008 graduate of Vicksburg High School. She attends Jackson State University where she is pursuing a double major in speech pathology and history.
