George Morrison Sr.

EDWARDS — Services for George “Mop” Morrison Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. today at Lakeview Funeral Home.

Mr. Morrison died Friday, March 26, 2010, at his home. He was 69.

He was born in Learned to Claxton Morrison and Marie Kimble Morrison. He had worked at Koestler’s Bakery in Vicksburg, Jackson Ready Mix in Jackson, the Edwards Cotton Gin, Tyson Foods in Bovina and for Ray Canada of Edwards. He was a member of Friendship M.B. Church in Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Claxton Morrison II.

Survivors include Katherine Harrington; three sons, George Morrison Jr. of Edwards, Fred Butler of Bovina and Craig Scott of Los Angeles; seven daughters, Thelma Williams, Bonita Morrison and Takita Morrison, all of Edwards, Ethel Renee Jones of Vicksburg, Tonicia Bishop of Utica and Evelyn Butler and Tammy Morrison, both of Jackson; his companion, Bettie Scott; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and friends and other relatives, including Bertha Kimble Proctor of Edwards.
