Sadie Mae Jones

Sadie Mae Jones died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at River Region Medical Center. She was 88.
A Vicksburg native, Mrs. Jones was a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Hill M.B. Church, where she served as chaplain of the Usher Board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Jones; her parents, Jake Sr. and Emma McClain Austin; one daughter, Flora Mae Jones; five brothers, Leon McClain, Joseph Austin, Jessie Austin, Jake Austin Jr. and Adam Austin; and three sisters, Stella Austin, Isabella Austin and Chestine Coffee.
Survivors include two sons, McArthur Jones of Los Angeles and Willie Lee Jones of Bellflower, Calif.; two daughters, Emma Parker and Virginia Jones Regan, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Evelyn Johnson and Rose Pollack, both of Camden, N.J.; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and other relatives, including members of the Regan, Parker and Coffee families of Vicksburg.
