The Clarion-Ledger newspaper of Jackson on Thursday reported Mississippi State will announce Scott Stricklin as the school’s next athletic director.

A press conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Starkville, according to a news release from the school.

Stricklin, a senior associate AD at State and one of former AD Greg Byrne’s advisers, will replace Byrne, who took the same position at the University of Arizona.

Stricklin, 39, graduated from State in 1992. He is married to the former Anne Howell, daughter of famed MSU basketball player Bailey Howell.
