Services to celebrate the life of Charles C. Bingham will be at noon Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Travelers Rest Baptist Church, 718 Bowmar Ave., with Pastor James C. Archer officiating. Burial will follow at Zollinger Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m.

Charles Bingham, a resident of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at River Region Medical Center, Vicksburg. He was 70.

He retired as supervisor of computer operations for the Mississippi Employment Security Commission, where he worked for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a 1957 graduate of Bowman High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Jackson State University.

Mr. Bingham was a member of Bingham’s Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and, for many years, a member of the Junior Choir. He will be remembered for his faithfulness, his kindness and his service of videoing church services. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.

Mr. Bingham was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Hall and Frances O. Bingham; and two daughters, Kimberly Estella and Charlene Francine.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Rose Burns Bingham of Jackson; a daughter, Ammie Jennings (Major) of Jackson; three grandchildren, Chris, Mia and Monet; seven sisters, Jean Robinson, Louise Hall, Joyce Pack (James), Yvonne Cameron of Brooklyn, N.Y., Bobbi Williams of Chesapeake, Va., Elmonia Grant (James) of Columbia, S.C., and Jackie Stewart (Samuel) of Garland, Texas; five brothers, Michael Hall of Brooklyn, N.Y., Edward Brown (Joyce) of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert Hall (Flore), Billy Hall and Calvin Harris, all of Vicksburg; four aunts, Roberta Kennedy and Julia Thomas (Horace), Gladys Bingham and Margaret Bingham; one uncle, Haskell Bingham (Robbie); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends, including the Burns, Hall, Cowan and Taylor families.
