YAZOO CITY — Margie Phelps Jones died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at her home in Yazoo City. She was 82.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Tchula.
She was born in Drew, Miss., where she graduated from Drew High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business education from Mississippi State College for Women. She had worked at Tchula Insurance Agency and Cruger-Tchula Academy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Madge Phelps and Jewel and Sam Healey; a sister, Frances Phelps Garner; and two great-grandsons, Matthew Hooks and Harris Hooks.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bernard B. Jones II of Yazoo City; one son, Bryan Jones of Yazoo City; two daughters, Debbie Braswell of Lexington and Cindy Thompson of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Tchula with the Rev. Charley Chase officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Tchula. Visitation will be from 3 until 6 today at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City.
