A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail today, charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

William Slater, 32, 104 Brister Road, was arrested at 12:45 this morning when Warren County deputy Chris Satcher found about an ounce of the drug, divided into small packages, after a traffic stop near Culkin and Boy Scout roads, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Slater was a passenger in the stopped vehicle, a 1996 Jeep Cherokee, Pace said; the driver fled on foot.

Slater was being held without bond pending an initial court appearance. Deputies were seeking the driver.
