A documentary featuring a Vicksburg man’s home will be shown at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center March 11. The screening will serve as a kickoff to the second annual Tapestry: A Living History of Vicksburg
Zach Godshall’s “God’s Architects” will begin at 6 p.m. It tells the stories of five self-taught builders and their religion-inspired creations. The Rev. H.D. Dennis’ colorful, North Washington Street structure, etched with Bible verses, is featured in the film.
“God’s Architects” won the New Orleans Film Festival’s 2009 Louisiana Filmmaker of the Year award.
Godshall, a Louisiana resident, has a master’s degree in film directing from the University of California at Los Angeles. He teaches film and screenwriting at Louisiana State University.
Admission to the screening is free, but donations are encouraged.
Tapestry is an interpretive Vicksburg tourism series started in 2009 that mixes home tours with interactive presentations. It will run through April 5.
