PORT GIBSON — Selvin Young died Monday, March 8, 2010, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Vicksburg. He was 81.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Laura Bruce Young; and a sister, Mary Taylor.

He is survived by three sons, Johnny L. Young of Gary, Ind., Selvin Young Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, and Navondyl Young of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Francene Young-Lee of St. Paul, Minn., and Kanika Young of Port Gibson; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rising Sun M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating.

Burial will follow at Thompson Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the service Monday at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Port Gibson.
