Jean Dowe Smith died July 17, 2010 at her home. She was 76.

Mrs. Smith was born in Utica, but lived most of her life in Vicksburg.

Jean and her family became members of Calvary Baptist Church 47 years ago. She was a friend to Wilderness Baptist Church and attended there when possible.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dawlton L. Smith; mother, Chrystelle Dowe; father, Oscar Dowe; and brother, Bill Dowe.

She is survived by a son, Gary Smith of New Orleans; and two daughters, Tammy M. Smith and Kelli Smith, both of Vicksburg; three brothers, Ralph Dowe of Tallulah, and Robert Dowe and Jack Dowe, both of Utica; four grandchildren, Brooke, Benjamin, Brandon and Bradley; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Dowe Jr., Jack Dowe Jr., Ralph Dowe Jr., Jules Carpenter and Ronnie McGowan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billie Jo Crawford, Tommy and Wanda Gentry, Wanda and Junius Williams, Joy Culbertson and Cliff and Diane Ferrell.
