Edwards man dies in one-car wreck

A 53-year-old man was killed Wednesday when his car crashed on Mount Moriah Road in Edwards, the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department said.

James Coberson of Edwards was southbound in a 1997 Honda Accord when the wreck occurred, Lt. Jeffery Scott said .

Coberson apparently lost control of his vehicle and flipped at about 3 p.m., Scott said.

Coberson was traveling alone. He was pronounced dead on the scene, Scott said.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation, Scott said.

City man jailed on burglary charge

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning on burglary charges.

Ricky Powell, 32, 1200 Mission 66 Apartment 202, was arrested at Washington and Speed streets at 6 p.m. after a burglary at his apartment complex in which witnesses said they saw Powell get into a car with a large object wrapped in a rug, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

The burglary was reported at 5 p.m., and missing from the home was a 32-inch AOC Envision flat-screen TV valued at $300. The TV was recovered from the vehicle in which Powell was stopped, Stewart said.

He was being held on a $25,000 bond.

A second residential burglary was reported Wednesday at 9:18 p.m. in the 1200 block of Finney Street, Stewart said.

Missing from the home was a 32-inch Sanyo flat-screen TV valued at $400 and a 32-inch Panasonic TV valued at $400.
