McPherson, Nash to recite vows

Dr. and Mrs. Scott Harris McPherson announce the engagement of their daughter, Allison Taylor, to Dr. Gary Monroe Nash Jr. Dr. Nash is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Monroe Nash of Fairhope, Ala., and Greenwood.

Miss McPherson is the granddaughter of Mrs. James Harvey Stribling Jr. and the late Dr. Stribling of Brookhaven and Mrs. Frank Taylor McPherson and the late Dr. McPherson of Vicksburg.

Dr. Nash is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Arnold Hammond Jr. of Winona and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Lavelle Nash of Avalon.

The bride-elect is a 2003 honor graduate of Jackson Preparatory School. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry in 2007 from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority.

She was presented by the Debutante Club of Mississippi in 2004 and received a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from Mississippi College.

Miss McPherson is pursuing a doctoral degree in dental medicine from the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry in Jackson.

The prospective groom is a 2001 honor graduate of Pillow Academy in Greenwood. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi, where he received a bachelor’s degree in biology. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and was named to Phi Beta Kappa.

Dr. Nash received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2009 and is completing a residency in internal medicine in Birmingham.

Vows will be exchanged June 18, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Jackson with Dr. Stanley Prescott Buckley officiating. A reception will follow at the Country Club of Jackson.
