James Earl Twilley

VALLEY PARK — James Earl Twilley died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson. He was 84.

Mr. Twilley was born in Coffee, Ala., and lived in Coffee County, Ala., for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Valley Park Baptist Church, Scottish Rites and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Claramore Grimes Twilley and Doris King Twilley; and a brother, William Ethridge Twilley.

Survivors include two daughters, Joanne Whitten of Valley Park and Nancy Moore of Brookhaven; one sister, Pat Argrow of Atlanta; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Purser officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 5 until 7 at the funeral home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the New Ebenezer Cemetery in Elba, Ala., under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home of Elba.

Pallbearers will be Larry D. Whitten, William R. Moore, William R. Moore II, Jason Cannon, Scotty Evans and Warren Ashmore.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Whitten, Ted Porter, Bobby Braxton, Charles Bobo, Charles Fortson, Charles Kerr and Ernest McKinney.
