Brandon dominated the lane and that was enough to beat the Missy Gators at the Ridgeland Classic. Vicksburg’s top four post players combined for just four points while Brandon (11-2) got 12 points from Samantha Banks and 11 from Kristina Trigg to grab the win.

Vicksburg (4-8) is off until next week’s tournament at Mendenhall. Vicksburg coach Barbara Hartzog said her team must pick up its inside play.

“We’re getting killed in the post area,” Hartzog said. “My two smallest posts, Destinee (McCleary) and Sheridan (Morris), played the best of anybody.”

Vicksburg fell behind by 21 points early in the third quarter, but were able to close to within 13 at 49-36 with 2:21 left.

Ama Arkoful led Vicksburg with 15 points while Breanna Foy had 12.
