LEXINGTON — George Hilton Holley, 91, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at his home.
He lived most of his life in Lexington. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He retired after 43 years with Weathersby Chevrolet-Buick and was a retired cattle farmer, which was his main entertainment.
His beloved wife, Mary Ellen Hathcock Holley, preceded him in death in 1970.
Surviving him are his daughters, Janet H. Johnson of Jackson, Patsy H. Hodges of Vicksburg, Beth H. Wynne (Danny) of Greenwood, Brenda H. Farmer of Lexington; his son, George P. “Bubba” Holley (Carol) of Madison; his four grandchildren, Dan Wynne (Billie Jane), Scott Wynne (Lindsay), Jay Hodges (Amy), and Ellen H. Frye (Austin); and one great-grandchild, Logan Hodges. He also is survived by a special friend, Helen Pierce.
The Holley family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to his caretakers, Ms. Helen Holmes and Mrs. Pat Floyd. Also, thanks to the nurses at Sta-Home Health and Hospice.
Visitation will be from 10 until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at Southern Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church of Lexington at 11:30 a.m., followed by interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
