Freshman right-hander Ryan Eades earned his first SEC victory Saturday and designated hitter Raph Rhymes collected three hits, including a two-run homer in the eighth inning, to lead LSU to a 6-3 win over Mississippi State at Dudy Noble Field.

Mississippi State (34-21, 14-16 SEC) despite losing the contest, clinched via tiebreaker second place in the SEC West and a berth in the SEC Tournament. MSU, Alabama and Auburn finished in a three-way tie for second place in the division standings and sixth overall in the conference. The Bulldogs will be seeded sixth and will face third-seed Florida in a first-round game Wednesday.
