Ryan Collins went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, Nick Vickers and Jaron Shepherd homered, and Mississippi State beat Tennessee 5-3 on Saturday to win their Southeastern Conference series in Knoxville.

Vickerson and Shepherd led off the fourth inning with back-to-back home runs to give the Bulldogs (28-18, 10-13 SEC) a 4-0 lead. Tennessee got a run back in the bottom of the fourth, but Collins’ sacrifice fly made it 5-1 in the fifth.

MSU’s pitchers took it from there. Starter Nick Routt lasted six innings and gave up three runs, while Taylor Stark pitched the last 2 2/3 to earn his second save of the season. Stark didn’t allow a hit or a run, struck out four and walked one.
