Emergency officials work to remove Timothy Culkin, 41, 302 Meadowvale Drive, from the cab of a Quality Trucking tanker that flipped onto its side as Culkin attempted to make a turn from Indiana Avenue onto North Frontage Road at 5:32 p.m. Sunday. The truck, registered in Magnolia, Ark., was carrying 5,000 gallons of caustic soda, which had to be transferred to another truck dispatched from Magnolia before the damaged truck could be righted and cleared. No significant spills were reported, though a hazardous materials cleanup unit was called in from Jackson. Culkin, initially taken to River Region Medical Center, was later flown to University Medical Center in Jackson, where he was in stable condition this morning, UMC spokesman Peggy Wagner said. Vicksburg police were at the scene until 4:30 a.m., said Sgt. Jackie Johnson.
