Rickey Hall works to open one of eight flood drains at City Front while Jerrick Neal uses a measuring tape to gauge his progress Monday as workers opened the drains closed since March 17. The drains were closed to prevent water in the Yazoo Diversion Canal from seeping under City Front’s floodwall when the Mississippi River at Vicksburg climbed to 43.3, topping the city’s flood stage of 43 feet. The river at Vicksburg this morning was at 37.8 feet, dropping regularly since the crest on March 31.
