The death of a Vicksburg teacher and pastor whose body was found Sunday evening in the pool at his home has been ruled an accidental drowning, Warren County Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess said today.
An autopsy Monday at the Mississippi State Crime Lab determined that Quincy Jones, 32, 317 Lake Forest Drive, suffered from severe coronary artery disease but the condition did not play a part in his death.
“There were no signs of a heart attack and no signs of a seizure,” Bailess said.
His body was found in the deep end of the 8-foot-deep pool at about 6:30 p.m. by his wife, Monica Jones.
No foul play is suspected, Sheriff Martin Pace said.
Quincy Jones had been a teacher with the Vicksburg Warren School District for about 2 1/2 years and was about to return Grove Street School, where he taught last year. He also was the pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church on Monroe Street.
