A Vicksburg man was arrested on grand larceny charges Tuesday following a report of stolen brass tire stems, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Charlie Stamps III, 24, 309 Meadowvale Drive, was stopped at 1:07 p.m. by police where Openwood Street becomes Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Farmer Street, Stewart said. A records check showed that a warrant had been issued earlier in the day for his arrest.
The theft of stems valued at $600 to $800 had been reported from the 1900 block of Sky Farm Avenue, Stewart said.
Stamps also was being held for the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a parole violation. MDOC records show Stamps had been convicted of possession of cocaine.
Bond was set at $15,000 for Stamps, who was in the Issaquena County Jail, Stewart said.
