River City mission wins grant, needs volunteers

River City Rescue Mission has received a $23,080 grant to help the public with financial assistance.
The federal grant, awarded through the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program, will help those needing financial assistance with rent, mortgage or utilities.
Those seeking assistance must be able to show proof of a verifiable emergency. Call 601-636-1755 to schedule an appointment.
Separately, the rescue mission is seeking volunteers and food donations for its third annual Thanksgiving dinner to be served to the homeless and the homebound. Dinners will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, at the mission, 3705 Washington St. Delivery will be available upon request. Call 601-636-6602.
