Kroger has contributed $250,000 to flood relief efforts in six states, including Mississippi.

“We hope that by providing food and water to local food banks and financial support to the Red Cross we will help our associates and customers rebuild their communities in the aftermath of the floods and devastating storms,” said spokesman Joe Bell. “Right now so many people would like to get involved and help others. If this is the case the absolute best way to do so is by either making a cash donations to the Red Cross or contacting the local food bank or the Salvation Army for a list of specific items needed.”

Of the $250,000 pledged, Kroger is providing $150,000 in cash and in-kind support and is prioritizing contributions of food to local food banks as demand increases.

More than $1 million was contributed to local communities in areas with stores that carry the Kroger banner, including Memphis and west Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Southern Missouri, and southwest Kentucky.
