FAYETTE — Mildred Smith died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Promise Hospital in Vicksburg. She was 85.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Fellowship M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Smith; two daughters, Rose Hughes and Joyce Smith; and her parents, Bennie and Carrie Nevels.

She is survived by four sons, Lucion Smith, Houston Smith, General Thomas and Rufus Thomas, all of Fayette; three daughters, Frances Smith and Shirley Smith, both of Fayette, and Leslie Mable of Gary, Ind.; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Jessie Smith of Fayette and Pauline Coleman of Lorman.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fellowship M.B. Church in Lorman with the Rev. Kemp Burley officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson and Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.
