A Vicksburg teen was in the Warren County Jail Saturday night without bond charged with attempted business burglary and possession of a concealed weapon, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Chrischun Sims, 19, 801 Blossom Lane, is accused of attempting to break into the Oak Park Bestway convenience store at Indiana Avenue and Lee Road, Pace said.

Deputy Dan Ratcliff, on routine patrol in the area, saw Sims walking out of a wooded area near Hickory Road and Indiana Avenue at 1:54 a.m., Pace said. Sims was carrying a backpack. Upon searching the pack, Ratcliff found sweat-covered and grass-stained black clothes, latex gloves and a .22 caliber pistol, Pace said.

Authorities believe Sims tried to gain entry into the store by breaking out a back window, but was rebuffed by security bars.

“It appears as if he changed out of his all black clothes and emerged from the woods wearing gray sweatpants and a white t-shirt,” Pace said.

In addition to the attempted burglary charge, Sims is facing a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
