Once again, Tennessee is doing its part to lift the sagging spirits of a Southeastern Conference opponent.
Mikie Mahtook and Grant Dozar had three hits apiece, including a triple, and LSU starter Kurt McCune allowed one run in 7 2/3 innings as the Tigers pummeled Tennessee for the second straight day, 8-1 on Saturday afternoon.
LSU had 16 hits in the game, and has outscored Tennessee 17-1 in the first two games of the three-game series. The two wins have allowed LSU (32-19, 10-16) to remain two games back in the race for the final SEC Tournament berth, out of it at the moment but still lurking.
Tennessee (23-26, 5-21), meanwhile, lost its 11th consecutive SEC game and for the 11th time in 12 games overall.
