Two men, including one already out on bond, were arrested in Vicksburg over two days and charged with the sale of cocaine.

George Michael Banks, 39, 1326 Grove St., Apt. 1, was arrested at his home at 5 this morning on a search warrant stemming from an investigation into drug activity, said Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department.

Banks was charged with sale of cocaine and possession within 1,500 feet of a school after police found around 3 grams of cocaine and a pistol in the apartment that is less than a block from Grove Street School, a part of the Vicksburg Warren School District, Stewart said.

It was Banks’ second arrest this month. On Jan. 7, he was arrested for shooting into an occupied building in Greenville in December and had been released on bond.

On the Vicksburg charge, Banks was being held without bond pending an initial hearing.

Separately, a Louise man was released on a $25,000 bond after being charged at 2:42 p.m. Wednesday with the sale of cocaine.

J.B. Hoskins, 39, P.O. Box 83, is accused of selling cocaine in the parking lot of the Horizon Casino on Mulberry Street. The arrest is a result of an undercover investigation, Stewart said.
