Florence man held in credit card fraud

A Florence man was arrested by Vicksburg police early today and charged with six counts of credit card fraud, Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Charles Birdno, 23, 1621 Mississippi 469 South, was picked up at 12:30 a.m. by Vicksburg authorities at the Florence Police Department after he was found to have outstanding warrants during a traffic violation stop, Stewart said.

The victim, also a Florence resident, filed a complaint July 14 that her credit card, which had been reported as stolen, had been used to make five withdrawals from a Vicksburg branch of BancorpSouth and a purchase at Walmart, said the lieutenant.

Birdno was being held without bond at the Issaquena County Jail pending an initial hearing Friday.
