Five sentenced in Warren County Sharkey grand jurors issue 16 indictments

In Warren County Circuit Court for the week ending Friday:
• Brett Damon Bagley, 32, 8905 Country Scene Way, Las Vegas, pleaded guilty to felony eluding and was sentenced by Circuit Judge Isadore Patrick to three years of probation, plus a $1,500 fine and $822.50 in court costs and fees. Bagley was arrested June 25.
• Grady C. Bishop, 18, 3365 U.S. 61 South, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced by Circuit Judge M. James Chaney to five years of probation, plus a $1,000 fine, $4,721 in restitution and $645 in costs. Bishop was arrested Sept. 14 and Sept. 22.
• Demichael Janard Jones, 18, 303 Hillside Drive, pleaded guilty to three counts of vehicle burglary and was sentenced by Patrick to complete the Mississippi Department of Corrections Regimented Inmate Discipline Program, followed by three years of probation, plus a $1,000 fine and $322.50 in costs. Jones was arrested March 31, 2010.
• Toby Manuel Westcott, 34, 201 Dogwood Lake Drive, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced by Patrick to four years in prison followed by four years of probation, plus a $2,000 fine and $622.50 in costs. Westcott’s arrest date was not available.
• Jarrad Lemont Williams, age unavailable, 2006 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced by Patrick to five years of probation, plus a $1,000 fine, $100 restitution and $322.50 in costs. Williams was arrested April 15, 2010.
In Sharkey County, the grand jury was convened Monday by presiding Judge Chaney. The panel of 18 jurors reviewed evidence in 14 cases against 16 defendants and returned indictments against all defendants.
The grand jury also toured the courthouse and issued a report of recommendations for improvements that included adding elevators and handicapped ramps; repairing ceilings, floors and air conditioning system; improving the parking lot; adding ceiling fans to various rooms in the building; and increasing funding to law enforcement for training and forensics equipment.
Defendants indicted were:
• Kendall Bean, 24, 497 W. Race St., Rolling Fork — receiving stolen property, between Jan. 5 and 18.
• Irvin Clark, 46, 322 W. China St., Rolling Fork — burglary, non-residential, and malicious mischief, March 15.
• Kenneth Davis, 20, 289 W. China St., Rolling Fork — two counts of uttering a forgery, Aug. 5 and 20.
• H.D. Ford, 26, 37 Worthington, Rolling Fork — possession of a weapon by convicted felon, Feb. 20.
• Zenus Fung, 22, 42 Lindsey St., Rolling Fork — statutory rape, Jan. 8.
• Jordy Johnson, 18, 177 Pecan St., Rolling Fork — statutory rape, Jan. 12.
• Sedrick Lewis, 25, 643 Baconia Road, Rolling Fork — burglary of a dwelling, Dec. 13, and receiving stolen property, Jan. 2.
• Donald Mabus, 28, 557 S. Main St., Greenville — grand larceny, Oct. 25.
• James Maxey, 20, 108 W. China St., Rolling Fork — receiving stolen property, April 2.
• Arsenio Odems, age and address unavailable — armed robbery and possession of a weapon by convicted felon.
• James Prestianni, 25, 240 Yelverton Road, Rolling Fork — possession of a weapon by convicted felon, April 4.
• Frankie Reed, 34, 30 Wildwood Ave., Glen Allan — receiving stolen property, Sept. 23.
• Cameron Smith, 32, address not available — grand larceny, Oct. 25.
• Jeremy Thames, 25, address not available — grand larceny, Oct. 25.
• Jeremy Washington, 20, 53 Holly Bluff Road, Rolling Fork — armed robbery, Jan. 29.
The Sharkey County grand jury meets three times each year, in January, April and August. They review evidence against defendants and decide if it is sufficient to take the case to trial, in which case defendants are indicted and arraigned, or formally advised of the charges against them.
The next Sharkey County grand jury will be convened Aug. 15.
