Bertha Mae Herring Adams

EDWARDS — Bertha Mae Herring Adams died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Baton Rouge General Hospital Mid City. She was 79.
Born in Edwards, she was a homemaker and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laura Cox Herring and Charlie Herring Sr.; her husbands, Willis Minnifield and Nathan Adams Sr.; one son, Sammie Lee Minnifield; five brothers, Thaddeus Herring, Willie Herring, Charlie Herring Jr., Ester Lee Herring and Eddie Herring; and five sisters, Bernice Herring, Laura Atkins, Marie Tillman, Roberta Herring and Elnora Herring.
Survivors include three sons, Eddie Minnifield of Edwards, Nathan Adams Jr. of Jackson and Leo Adams of Memphis; three daughters, Dr. Ernestine Clifton of Buffalo, N.Y., Lakora Bates of Baton Rouge and Bertha Johnson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Louise Herring of Indianapolis, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the service.
