LaQuan Renell Cox and Benton Ross III announce their engagement today. Vows will be exchanged at 3 p.m. March 12, 2011, at Zion Travelers M.B. Church, 1701 Poplar St. A reception will follow at 5:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus on Fisher Ferry Road.

No in-town invitations will be sent. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Miss Cox is the daughter of James Phillip Sr. and Lisa Cox-Shelton. She is the granddaughter of the late Rev. Elbert Sr. and Helen Cox, James and Mariea Scott and the late Johnson Shelton Jr., all of Vicksburg.

Mr. Ross is the son of Georgia Carson Ross and the late Benton Ross Jr. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Carson Sr. and the late Benton Ross Sr., all of Vicksburg, and Mittie Ann Ross of Madison.

The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of Vicksburg High School, where she was a member of FBLA. She is pursuing a degree in biology/pre-medicine from Jackson State University, where she will graduate in the fall.

The prospective groom is a 2002 graduate of Vicksburg High School. He is a graduate of Alcorn State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics.
