George Edward Stegall Sr.

George Edward Stegall Sr., previously of Vicksburg, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery V.A. Medical Center in Jackson.

He was born in Chicago on May 21, 1952. He graduated from Warren Central High School in 1969. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. His tour of duty included Germany and Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and The Bronze Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rita Stegall, and his daughter, Krista Dian Stegall, all of Vicksburg.

He is survived by his daughter, Adrian Peevy and her husband, James, and one son, George E. “Eddie” Stegall Jr., all of Texas; one sister, Mary Buckley of Brandon; a nephew, Jonathan Sellers and his wife, Kelly, of Brandon; and a niece, Alanna Buckley, also of Brandon.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Sellers, Johnny Sellers, Paul Sellers, Michael Croisdale, Jerome Booth and Raymond Tuller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Croisdale, Ben Shaw, Bobbie Brown, Julie Carter, Yolanda Smith, Renee Matney and employees of PAX Hospice.
