William Floyd Beasley

UTICA — William Floyd “Billy” Beasley died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 76.

He was a lifelong resident of Utica. After attending Hinds Junior College he served two years in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, Wash. He retired from U.S. Waterways Experiment Station in Vicksburg in 1990 after 30 years of employment. He was a member of Utica Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Ethel Beasley; brothers, Herman Beasley and Murray Beasley; and sisters Katherine Lloyd, Dorothy Tinsley and Sybil Craft.

Survivors include Mary Ann Moulder Beasley of Utica; two sons, Steve Beasley of College Park, Ga., and Todd Beasley of Augusta, Ga.; one daughter, Cherly Gray (Michael), both of Utica; one brother, Richard Beasley; three sisters, Mazie McDonner of Baton Rouge, Shirley Stoner of Orlando, Fla., and Kay Newman of Florence; two grandchildren, Eli Gray and Tucker Gray, both of Utica; a niece, Ginny Kitchens of Utica; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Utica Christian Church with Minister Brad Hartzog officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.
