Voters in Warren County and across the state on Tuesday will decide primary runoffs, therefore finalizing the Nov. 8 general election ballot.
Polls are open 7 to 7, and two local Republican runoffs are scheduled.
Don’t miss your chance to weigh in.
Incumbent District 1 Supervisor David McDonald will square off against John Arnold. The winner will face independents Reed Birdsong and Jerry Briggs on Nov. 8.
For chancery clerk, Donna Farris Hardy will take on Doug Whittington with the winner facing Democrat Walter Osborne and independents Alecia Ashley and Gene Thompson in the general election.
In the governor’s race, Democrats will decide if Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree or Clarksdale businessman and attorney Bill Luckett will face Republican Phil Bryant. In the Aug. 2 primary, DuPree received 43 percent of the vote, to Luckett’s 39 percent.
In Mississippi, candidates must win 50 percent-plus-one of the vote to advance to the general election.
Tuesday’s ballot will be short, but don’t let that keep you at home. It takes only a few moments to make a lasting impact.
So get re-acquainted with the runoff candidates and make an informed decision. The more you know, the greater the chance that the best people will make it to Nov. 8.
Don’t sit the bench Tuesday. Vote.
