St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Bolton on Sunday will mark the first anniversary of its reopening.
The church had been closed for more than two decades before community members sought to revive the church.
Last year, the Very Rev. Billie Abraham, the priest at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Bovina, began celebrating at St. Mary’s the Holy Eucharist once a quarter.
St. Mary’s was organized in 1872, and four years later the church was built. The first service was April 10, 1876. St. Mary’s is one of the oldest Episcopal churches in Hinds County.
