Mable Archer

PORT GIBSON — Mable Archer died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Patient Choice Hospital in Port Gibson. She was 83.

Mrs. Archer was a member and usher at Morningstar M.B. Church in Lorman. She worked at Gage/Hynum and Lightfoot Cleaners for more than 30 years and sewed for more than 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave Archer and Minnie Archer-Compton; and two daughters, Velma Archer and Thelma Archer.

Survivors include three sons, Carl Archer of South Holland, Ill., Willie Archer of Chicago and Wilbert E. Archer of Port Gibson; two daughters, Lillie Holt of Vero Beach, Fla., and Cynthia Archer Warner of Port Gibson; a brother, Wilbert Archer of Port Gibson; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Elizabeth Walton of Oakland, Calif.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Morningstar M.B. Church with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson with family hour from 6 until 7 and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.
