Mr. and Mrs. Willie Brown announce the engagement of their daughter, Wanda Kaye, to Marvin Houston. Mr. Houston is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Houston and the late Ruth Houston of Fayette.

Miss Brown is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie James Vessell and the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith.

Mr. Houston is the grandson of the late Danny and Mary Payton.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Warren Central High School, where she was a member of Fashion Merchandising and FBLA.

She was second runner-up in the 1987 Miss Black Vicksburg Pageant.

Miss Brown owns 2 Cute Designs.

The prospective groom is a 1986 graduate of Jefferson County High School. He was named Best Defensive Player of the Year for 1986.

He received a welding degree from Job Corps.

Mr. Houston is a certified welder for McCool’s Logging.

The wedding will be at 4 p.m. April 16, 2011, at Vicksburg City Auditorium. A reception will follow. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.
